Rescue clubs deal in adopting stray or abandoned English Bulldogs. Unfortunately, not all dog lovers are capable of providing proper care and attention to their pets. More often than not, people buy Bulldogs on impulse, just for fun or because of the 'good look'. Meanwhile, one should bear in mind that the English Bulldog is not a dog for everyone.
Rescue clubs are non-profit groups of enthusiasts, who work on private basis. They are always full to capacity, and they actually cannot afford adopting every dog. If someone willing to abandon his or her Bulldog comes, the members of a club ask him or her about the reasons of his or her decision to give the pet away.
Rescue clubs accept those species, which have displayed sudden behavioral inadequacies or if there is a major health problem. They cooperate with veterinary services and, along with research organizations, take part in general research programs.
Those owners, who are willing to leave their dogs for 'it-is-not-what-I-wanted' or 'we-are-having-a-child' reasons, and so forth may be asked politely to 'head back the way you came'. Because when buying a puppy they should have been educated regarding these matters and they should have weighed their decisions before acquiring one. Thus, there are good and bad reasons for abandoning pets. Rescue organizations also provide adopt out services and will charge for them. Like breeders, they think well before giving dogs to this or that person and study their potential buyers.

Care involves regular grooming with a bristle brush. It is not necessary to bathe them too often. The muzzle needs wiped every day with a piece of soft and dry cloth. Make sure that the area inside the wrinkles is always clean. English Bulldogs are good for apartment life. They are well accustomed to temperate climatic conditions. They are extremely susceptible to sharp temperature fluctuations, being very cold prone. Heat is also unfavorable for them, because they cool off badly.
Bulldogs often suffer from respiratory diseases. Long dwelling in hot places can be fatal. Because of big heads, their delivery at birth is by caesarian section. Skin infections frequently affect them. That is often in a case whereby improper care takes place. English Bulldogs are highly prone to genetic disorders.
